Our Story

Biosfer Teslab was founded in December 2013 with the aim of developing in vitro diagnostic systems to look for new disease biomarkers, applying nuclear magnetic resonance analysis technology on different biological matrices. 
This vocation allowed the company to develop an advanced lipoprotein test (Liposcale® Test), which enables a comprehensive characterization of the lipoprotein profile, encompassing various components such as lipid content, particle number, and size. 
Data derived from Liposcale test assists clinicians in effectively managing cardiovascular risks associated with dyslipidemia during clinical practice. 

Biosfer Teslab is a spin-off company of the Rovira i Virgili University (URV) and the Pere Virgili Health Research Institute (IISPV). It operates in the field of in vitro diagnosis with the aim of providing analytical services to study and monitor metabolism alterations in order to advance knowledge and improve people’s health.

Over the years, Biosfer has maintained a steadfast focus on innovation and continuous development, a commitment that has garnered support and funding from institutions dedicated to fostering cutting-edge projects. This impetus has propelled the company to advance in the extraction of information from NMR spectra, validating the utilization of NMR spectroscopy for characterizing biofluids and biotissues within the realms of biomedical and clinical research.

This achievement has reached in the provision of a comprehensive NMR metabolomics profiling, which includes, alongside the renowned lipoprotein profiling (Liposcale® test), glycoprotein profiling, characterization of the aqueous plasma metabolome (LMWM), and lipid families characterization.

Thanks to the company’s pioneering spirit and the analysis of over 30,000 samples in its research endeavors, a remarkable transformation has occurred. The culmination of these efforts has yielded the MetBalanceTest, an entirely novel and innovative product within the public’s reach.
